A TENS machine is a safe, drug free way to assist in the management of chronic and acute pain. TENS (or Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulator) comes with small adhesive pads that are applied to the skin surrounding the painful area such as low back, shoulder, knee, etc. and sends small, safe, electrical signals into the body to aid in the relief of muscle and joint pain.

At Brampton Union Ergonomics Clinic you will be instructed on the safe, at home use of the TENS to reduce your pain, decrease the need for pain medication, and improve your ability to work pain free. TENS are often prescribed by medical doctors for chronic conditions such as fibromyalgia, chronic back pain from disc herniation or arthitis, rotator cuff injuries, and knee problems.

TENS machines can be purchased directly from the clinic and may be eligible for reimbursement from extended health plans. Call the clinic and speak with our helpful staff to find out if a TENS machine is right for you.
